Nature’s
Prenatal (180) - Vitamin Supplement Notes
Vitamins and minerals for pregnancy and lactation
Don’t wait until you’re already pregnant to take
care of your health. When you’re “eating for two”
your nutrition is especially critical for both
mother and child. For instance, the folic acid in
Nature’s Prenatal is needed by fast-growing tissues
and is often recommended for all women capable of
becoming pregnant to help prevent developmental
problems including neural tube defects. Vitamin B12
is also important for growth including protein
synthesis and building red blood cells. Vitamin B6
is known to function in dozens of enzyme systems.
Vitamin B1 is needed for a healthy nervous
system.
Ginger root is an added benefit to reduce morning
nausea.
Tooth cavities are very common following pregnancy
that’s why additional calcium supplements such as
Skeletal Strength or Calcium with Magnesium and
Vitamin D should be included in a prenatal or
lactation program.
Research: Folic Acid (1081 clinical trials);
The requirement for folic acid increases
considerably during pregnancy.1
Deficiencies of folic acid during pregnancy are
associated with low birth weight and an increased
incidence of neural tube defects in infants.2
In one study, women who were at high risk of giving
birth to babies with neural tube defects were able
to lower their risk by 72% by taking folic acid
supplements prior to and during pregnancy.3
