Ginkgo / Hawthorne
Ginkgo & Hawthorn Combination
[Circulatory] contains Ginkgo biloba leaves and
hawthorn berries, used in many cultures to support
the circulatory system. This herbal combination
supports increased blood circulation and oxygen
utilization in the heart muscle. This combination is
quite popular in Europe.

Take 1 capsule with a meal three times daily.
HOW IT WORKS
Ginkgo biloba leaf is
one of the most popular well-studied herbs in the
world. Its ability to increase circulation has been
documented in numerous clinical trials. Hawthorn
berries contain flavonoids and compounds that may
benefit the circulatory system, especially the
heart. They also contain volatile oils, saponins,
alkaloids, vitamins and minerals.
SCIENTIFIC SUPPORT
Ginkgo biloba contains
flavonoid glycosides, proanthocyanidins, terpene
derivatives and other active compounds. It has
demonstrated antioxidant properties giving it the
ability to quench free radicals. Research indicates
that ginkgo’s circulatory-system benefits may result
from this special ability. Randomized, double-blind
clinical studies using standardized hawthorn berry
extract show that hawthorn appears to increase the
efficiency of nerve impulses in, and protect against
oxygen deprivation of, the heart muscle. Researchers
in Germany conducted a randomized, controlled study
and found that hawthorn extract can improve heart
function in people suffering from chronic heart
disease. Hawthorn patients also reported fewer
overall symptoms, less fatigue and less shortness of
breath.

Ginkgo Biloba / Hawthorne - Herbal Remedies Notes
Serious help for peripheral
circulation
Ginkgo Biloba decreases capillary permeability
and platelet aggregation to improve peripheral
circulation. In the brain it improves neural
activity, cerebrovascular circulation, protects
membranes and restores serotonin receptors. The
Chinese historically use ginkgo to build vitality
and alertness.
Ginkgo is used clinically to treat
memory loss with aging, early stages of Alzheimer's
disease, depression, poor circulation to the
extremities, impotence, recovery from a stroke,
ringing in the ears, early stages of macular
degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Benefits are often noticed within the first month,
but the extract should be used consistently for at
least 12 weeks. Use caution if also using blood
thinning drugs.
Research:
Ginkgo Biloba (1400+ studies, 168
clinical trials) Ginkgo has well-documented evidence
of its effect on memory and cognitive function. It
has been shown to increase circulation to the brain
and may exert a protective action on nerve cells.1
GBE regulates the tone and elasticity of blood
vessels,2 making circulation more
efficient.3
