Antispasmodic. Balancing control for menstrual
cramping.
This formula combines the traditional North
American herbs used for relief of menstrual cramping
(dysmennorrhea). Cramp Relief provides reliable
antispasmodic herbs including cramp bark and lobelia
to help relax smooth muscle contractions. Wild yam
is both antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory. Black
cohosh has an “estrogenic” effect that can stabilize
female cycles. Its action may work at a deep level
of the endocrine system to help regulate hormone
levels and control unbalanced fluctuations. It has
the reputation of bring light into dark moods. It
may increase scanty flow. Plantain is included to
reduce water retention.
This formula can be considered a general
antispasmodic and also used for bowel spasms,
anxious tension, mild asthma and even hiccups.
Although the usual dose is 2 capsules 3 times per
day, some people will want up to 2 capsules every
hour for 6 hours.
Research: Cramp bark (Viburnum opulus, 9
clinical trials) is a uterine sedative, aiding in
menstrual cramps, afterbirth, and postpartum pains.
It helps to prevent miscarriage, as well as internal
bleeding. It is often used to treat muscle cramping
and spasms.
